ART ON HARRISON 2008
The
Oak Park Arts District presents the 13th Annual Art on Harrison on
Friday, September 19, 6-10 pm; Saturday, September 20, 12-8 pm;
Sunday, September 21, 12- 5 pm. The art walk will occur along
Harrison Street from Austin Blvd to Elmwood Ave.
During the three-day art walk the galleries will host special
exhibits and events including an earring workshop at Bead in Hand,
chair painting contest at Buzz Café, make your own
paperweight class at Prodigy Glassworks, and fall fashion preview
at Pamela Penney Textile Arts. An outdoor art festival with over
25 guest artists will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday at 2 pm there will be a local Oak Park boutique fashion
show, produced by Exodus Magazine and Majamas, on the stage at
Harrison St. and Lombard Ave. The first 200 attendees to the fashion
show will receive a free goody bag!
Many activities for children and families are in store all weekend
long. On Saturday from 2 - 6 pm House of Heat will sponsor the
Soil Action Mobile from Chicago’s Field Museum where children
can learn about the science of wiggling worms, natures’ cycles and
how soil supports everyday lives. On Saturday, 12- 6 pm, and
Sunday, 12- 4 pm, Wonder Works will host a kids’ craft
table. On Saturday from 12- 8 pm on the Harrison and Lombard stage
there will be live music, demonstrations by Akeido and Yoga
Trek, and an Animal Hour to meet various Dog Rescue
Organizations and learn proper dog and human etiquette.

The Oak Park Arts District has been in existence for over a
decade. This area is located on Harrison Street, and spans the
distance from Austin Boulevard to Elmwood Avenue. With a variety of
galleries, specialty boutiques and unique restaurants, in addition
to businesses that focus on the healing arts, this district is a
rich, artistic and cultural shopping destination in Oak Park.
