OAK PARK’S 30th ANNUAL ETHNIC FESTIVAL -
10:00 AM to 3:30 PM - Oak Park’s 30th Annual Ethnic Festival
starts at 715 N. Harvey Ave with a parade that includes groups
marching from each school, two floats, three marching bands,
tumblers and dancers from throughout the community. Opening
ceremonies will be followed by live entertainment under two
large tents and in the school auditorium. Admission is free. The
mini-gym will be transformed into an international bazaar where
books, artifacts, toys and clothing will be for sale. Foods from
various cultural traditions will be sold for modest prices. The

Children's Museum in Oak Park, located at 6445 W. North Ave. in
Oak Park, presents a Poetry Workshop. In the minds
of children, the most ordinary object can become magical; out of
the mouths of children, can come the most amazing word play.
This poetry workshop will tap into that natural ability to help
the children create their own work of poetry. Utilizing all five
senses, personification, rhyme and other poetic tools, we'll
have fun writing or even just reciting little masterpieces. Poet
Eric Elshtain is poet-in-residence at John H. Stroger, Jr.
Hospital, working through the non-profit Snow City Arts
Foundation. He also taught poetry to fourth graders for several

"EXPRESSING THE INEXPRESSIBLE" - 7:00 to 10:30 PM - "Expressing the Inexpressible", A Benefit Concert for
the Unity Temple Unitarian Universalist Congregation, to be held
at Unity Temple, 875 Lake Street in Oak Park, will feature
acclaimed musicians Chris Nemeth on violin, Nazar Dzhuryn on
cello and Mikhail Yanovitsky on piano. Program highlights will
include Tchaikovsky’s monumental and rarely performed Piano Trio
in A-minor (op. 50) and a short documentary film about the
musicians and will be followed by a reception and wine-tasting.
