WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TRAINS???
Well... Your web master just relocated
his offices, and we - that's the landlord (great guy)
and I are having a discussion about sponsorship. I
hope to get back to the trains in a couple of days.
Stay tuned! |
This is the "Oak Park" Station (Green Line) on
Chicago's famous "L", or
Elevated
Train. It runs from early morning and the last one leaves "Oak
Park" for downtown Chicago (The Loop) at 1:00 a.m. Trains depart
approximately every 10 minutes. Travel time between "Oak Park" and
"The Loop" is 22 minutes. (Map
and Green Line schedule)
The intersection is Oak Park Ave.
(running under the train tracks) and South Boulevard. This is one
block south of the central area of "The
Avenue" (Lake and Oak Park Ave.) with lots of restaurants and
shops within one block. Many visitors to the area get off here and
walk north [turning right under the tracks] to see the
Frank
Lloyd Wright Home & Studio or the
Ernest Hemingway Museum.
Also on these tracks you may see the
Metra Trains which carry
passengers between downtown Chicago and the suburbs. The nearest
Metra stop is 3 blocks west in
Downtown Oak Park. This is the Union
Pacific West Line (schedule) departing from Chicago's Ogilvie
Transportation Center at Madison and Canal Streets. That's in the
'Loop'.
The three main tracks are shared between Metra and numerous
freight trains on their way to Chicago's bustling rail yards where
trains from across the nation meet.
If the picture you see is an office, then we are doing some
maintenance work and you are looking at the offices of
